13 What are you Watching? 13
Topic: 13 Thursday

Do you have a Digital Video Recorder - a DVR?

I happen to think it is the best thing since sliced bread.  The first (or most popular) DVR (I think) was Tivo, but now all the satelite companies have them!

I am a TV person! Being a person that loves TV, I am in love with my DVR.  It's all I ever needed, especially with life being so sapped for time.

What is a A DVR you ask?  Well it is a hard drive built inside your satelite box.  The DVR records what you are watching Live and/or records anything you tell it to record.  For Instance:  You are watching Live TV, you can rewind or pause that live television show; you miss a part of a show or can't figure out what someone just said - skip back to it; you need to run to the bathroom or refridgerator - just pause it.  Or maybe you love a specific television series...  well you can set it to tape "all episodes" or "all new episodes (no repeats)" and you don't even have to look through the guide to find the episodes, it does it for you and automatically saves the show to your harddrive for future viewing.  And..... while you are watching something you have recorded, you can tape something else that is playing at the same time.  Not to mention that I very rarely have to watch commercials anymore.  (I wonder how the sponsors feel about that).

So anyway.... my 13 list is up and it is

Thirteen Things currently on my DVR:

At the moment we don't even have a working DVD player. It broke. And I don't think I could ever understand how to tape shows. I can barely run the DVD player and I still only get 4 channels (barely).  I catch some great things on PBS.  I love Studio 60 and watch Old Christine. Besides the news and Entertainment shows like Inside Edition, that's it!

The couch is crowded at my place. We've moved onto the bed!

I must be ancient.....I still tape shows on my VCR and I still use the VCR player.  I actually like it better! Even better then the DVD player because, I have rented DVD's and have seen them digitilized right before my eyes.

My favorite shows are LOST, HOUSE, SURVIVOR and not in that order. Also Grey's Anatomy and CSI (The original one).

I like movies best.

Maybe when we get a new TV, which is long overdue, I'll watch more than I do now. I have to admit I've seen none on your list but it's a great list all the same.

Hi Chris,

In reply to your comments on my blog, thanks for the compliments on the kids costumes, yes we had a pretty good array of costumes, as for the ghost story there was something wrong with tripod the night I wrote that, I tried 2 or 3 times to link that 13 thursday you did on ghosts & couldn't do it! VERY agravating, yes I saw the orbs in your picture, we got one from our photos over the summer too, taken in the dining room. as for the birthday thing, I'm probably just going to take the kids out to dinner somewhere (Not Kabukis) if you & Sam want to join us that'd be cool.

On my dvr is the same Medium you have, the national & local news from tonight which is calling my name as I type, My Name is Earl, Ghost Hunters from last week & this one, South Park, Good Eats & Jericho, my new favorite show- you need to catch it in reruns though, it's too complicated to start now-!
