Dumb Criminals & yes these are real....
A man mailed half a pound of pot through an undisclosed shipping company but forgot to put the address on the package. Pursuant to the policy of that company, employees opened the package to see if Coburn had mistakenly sealed the label inside. When they discovered the pot, they called the police. The man had his real return address on the package.

A woman didn't have to look far to figure out who likely broke into her home and took a camera from her purse. Police said the burglar left behind his probation and parole card. The woman was going through her purse after the burglary earlier this month to make sure nothing other the camera was taken. She found the man's probation and parole card, which had a date and time stamp on it for his next appointment. During his trial he admitted that he didn't even know how it got there.

Three men went into a store to rob it. There were several customers shopping at the time. While waiting for the customers to leave, one man picked up a cell phone, examined it, and took a picture of himself. Then, after the customers left the store, the three men proceeded to rob the store, leaving the phone with the picture on the counter. The police now have the picture of the dumb crook, and put it on TV for everyone to see.

Officers began to suspect that the man they pulled over was lying when he identified himself as Robert despite a tattoo with the name Cecil on the back of his neck. They arrested Cecil of and charged him with false informing. He had identified himself as his brother Robert.

A man who called police to report the theft of a quarter-pound of marijuana was arrested when police recovered the bag of pot and then invited him to come to the Public Safety Building to identify it.
The man identified the pot as his and then was arrested and booked into the county jail for investigation of possession of marijuana in a drug-free zone with intent to distribute. He had called police on Monday evening after he returned home and found that someone had broken a window, got cut on the glass, and crawled into the house. He told police the only thing missing was the quarter-pound of marijuana he was selling.

An Orlando FL Deputy was in uniform. He was also sitting in his marked patrol car. So he was a bit surprised when a man approached Friday and allegedly offered to sell him some cocaine. The man walked up to Johnson's car at a Mobil gas station and asked the Orange County deputy if he was "straight," according to arrest records. When the deputy replied he was, the man responded "Do you know what that means? .... It means do you want to buy some cocaine." When the deputy said "yes," the man pulled out a plastic bag containing several pieces of flat white rocks substances and asked for cash, records show. The deputy took the bag and arrested himy after the contents tested positive for cocaine.

A man successfully broke into a bank's basement through a street-level window, cutting himself up pretty badly in the process. He then realized that: (1) he could not get to the money from where he was,(2) he could not climb back out the window through which he had entered, and (3) he was bleeding pretty badly. So he located a phone and dialed "911" for help.

A man walked into a Circle-K (a convenience store similar to a 7-11), put a $20 bill on the counter and asked for change. When the clerk opened the cash drawer, the man pulled a gun and asked for all the cash in the register, which the clerk promptly provided. The man took the cash from the clerk and fled-- leaving the $20 bill on the counter. The total amount of cash he got from the drawer? Fifteen dollars.

Two men tried to pull the front off a cash machine by running a chain from the machine to the bumper of their pickup truck. Instead of pulling the front panel off the machine, though, they pulled the bumper off their truck. Scared, they left the scene and drove home. With the chain still attached to the machine. With their bumper still attached to the chain. With their vehicle's license plate still attached to the bumper.

A man convicted of robbery worked out a deal to pay $9600 in damages rather than serve a prison sentence. For payment, he provided the court a check -- a *forged* check. He got 10 years.

A man walked into a Topeka, Kansas Kwik Stop and asked for all the money in the cash drawer. Apparently, the take was too small, so he tied up the store clerk and worked the counter himself for three hours until police showed up and grabbed him.

Police in Los Angeles had good luck with a robbery suspect who just couldn't control himself during a lineup. When detectives asked each man in the lineup to repeat the words: "Give me all your money or I'll shoot", the man shouted, "that's not what I said!".

Just thought everyone enjoys a smile once in awhile!

We're Going to Disney!!
Good Day:

I found out today.
So you see here's how it happened.
About three years ago I got scammed out of 455.00 that I sent in for a Disney Vacation certificate - all I recieved was a video - no trip - it was all a scam. Long story - different day!
About a year later I joined a bunch of others in a class action suite set up for everyone that had gotten scammed. I jumped... oh please let me get my money back.... but never thought I would.
I found out last week that the company settled and I found out today what the details of the settlement are. Guess what? We're going to Disney! Five days / six nights - at a Disney world resort - including dining and of course five days of Disney parks! All I have to pay for is the plane tickets (which right now I can get for about 197.00 each round trip!!!) We can book the vacation whenever we are ready - could do it tomorrow if we wanted!
I can't believe this! I am simply exstatic!
Looks like we will be doing some vacationing after all!

Good Night:

Blogosphere
This Blogosphere is very interesting - Thank you very much!

Yesterday I participated in my first Thirteen Thursday but then I got busy at work and was only able to visit a few sites. Next week I hope to dedicate more time to actually leaving comments at others TT sites.

While visiting someone from the TT list yesterday I saw that there is also a "Memories Monday" and I've heard of "Photo Friday" too. Are there others? Is there a list created somewhere showing what is when and on which day?

My best friend Becky recently started a Blog. She started up on MSN but she just recently moved over to Tripod. Check her out -"Beckles"- she's a pretty cool person and reading her posts reminds me what I like about her and why we have been friends for almost 20 years (that is SO hard to believe....) It also reminds me of the many hours we used to spend reading our diaries to each other. Blogging is similar to that except the world can read along with us. Another favorite thing we used to do is play Monopoly... now we could play...

My worst part about Tripod is that when someone leaves a comment they actually have to hit "send" and then "confirm" before it will post. I find myself wondering how many people just do the "send" part and don't confirm it, meaning their comment never posts. I have had a few people mention they have commented only to realize that their comment is actually floating somewhere in Blogosphere and never actually posted at all.

Wouldn't it be fun if there were a place we could all go to find all the missing emails, documents and posts that have been lost since the beginning of time? How big do you think that place would be?

Why do I feel the need to capitalize the word Blog?

Blog is not even in the dictionary yet... but I did find this....

My First Thirteen Thursday and some Idle Chatter

1. Oops - I meant to say "Idol Chatter"

2. The boys were on last night and I wasn’t really all that impressed. I thought the woman's performances out shone them by miles.

3. I thought Simon was pretty right on with his comments (despite the boo’s from the crowd and protests from Paula and Randy). He is the most honest and constructively critical of the judges. Yes, he did have some rude comments (ie: not liking a persons smile, needing a bigger stage or even the color of someone's grey hair) but he is honest and to the point. If the contestants take what he says, they will definitely do better with each passing week.

4. I love Paula because she does point out the better parts of the performances and makes people feel good even when they didn't do a great job. Everyone needs some positive feedback!

5. Paula & Randy need to let Simon finish his critique before they jump all over him – after all, Simon lets them give their views without sticking it to them before they complete a sentence.

6. I'm sick of hearing about Randy's Dog House already!

7. I voted for Taylor Hicks (and it was very hard to get through on his line)

(there is something about Taylor that reminds me of my Uncle Johnny - maybe it's his passion - I can't really pinpoint why)

8. Until Taylor performed last, I was all set to vote for Chris.

9. Chris was the 6th contestant and was the first of the night, imho, to impress me.

10. Ace is dreamy and he'll get votes based on his "it or x-factor" alone (but he does have a voice too).

11. I didn't want to vote for him because tons did, I'm sure of that.... He'll be another Constantine! (as of now I still like Constantine better)

12. My girl, Samantha, voted for Kevin.

13. I can't wait for tonight's results! Can you?

This is my first Thirteen Thursday - I hope I did Ok.

Spontaneous Ski

Many of my daughter's friends often visit New Hampshire or Maine – which prompted Samantha to wonder and ask why we don’t go on outings very often? Since Samantha’s birth, the only vacationing / traveling we have done has been back and forth between Virginia and Massachusetts. I traveled extensively as a youngster, with my father, who indulged my every want when he had me on the weekends and school vacations. I have been in almost every state in the USA, as well as Quebec & Montreal in Canada and Tijuana Mexico. So her questions got me thinking... Why is that we never go anywhere? I think mostly it’s a money thing - but I got to thinking that it didn't have to be that way. There are plenty of things we could do that would be inexpensive and fun!

I decided I would plan a trip for us in the very near future. I remembered that I had Waterville Valley lift tickets sitting in my wallet. Ok.... we will go do that this weekend. I set my sights on planning our weekend trip using the internet as my tool and research assistant. Thank heavens I hadn't yet mentioned it to Sam because this trip wasn't coming together as I wanted. The tickets we had were “weekday only” tickets. They couldn't be used on any weekend or during school vacation season and of all things this Friday actually was the beginning of school vacation. To top that off, all of the hotel sites I looked at were outrageous – running about 160.00 per night. Hmmmm… this stinks… So much for that brilliant idea.

In my younger days I was a very impulsive person (this having it's pros and cons) but it had been a long time since I actually had done something spontaneous. I decided we would go the next morning! Yes, it was a school day but taking a day off a day now and then never hurt anyone!
I checked the motel and for the night it was only 69.00 and the other expense, the ski rental, was half price on the weekdays and would be only 30.00 each. We could make sandwiches for lunch and order our dinner from the 99 cent menu at McDonald's, BK or Wendy’s.

Wow! Was Sami ever excited when I said to her “We are going skiing in the morning!” She was floored, jumping with joy – excited wasn't even the word for it!

We had fun packing and planning. We would leave at 5 a.m. and be on the slopes by 9 a.m. Samantha asked if skiing was even fun? She didn't know much about it and didn't know if she would like it, but I reassured her she would love it. This was going to be very interesting.... Could I still ski? It had been about 15 years ago since I had last been. Could Samantha ski? Only time would tell.

We awoke early and left before sunrise. Excitement was in the air! We had a great ride – 2 hours of driving in New Hampshire.

Samantha was loving every minute of it. The mountains reminded her of Virginia (which she misses a lot) and even the smell and feel of the air... she was in her glory. I hadn't realized how much she really loved the country life.

We got to the ski lodge at about 9:30. Sam took to skiing right away – she didn't fall on her first time down and only fell once throughout the day. As for me? Well I learned all about the muscles in my legs which I hadn't’t used in years – but it was much like riding a bike and came right back to me.
The whole day of skiing was just so very awesome it’s hard to even describe!

Here are the trails / of course we stayed on the smaller ones:

I was so very glad I had reserved the motel instead of driving back home that night. My legs were like rubber and we were both more than tired – but it was that good kind of tired! The motel had a nice indoor pool so we topped the evening off soaking in it for an hour or two and then slept like logs!

I am foreseeing a lot of upcoming ski trips.

Nana
Nana – by Chrissie

Mother of nine and nine had nineteen
James thru Trish with seven between

Allowed to Live and Learn and Love
Creating more, because of ….

Delicious dinner, Sundays,
Homemade soups and stews
Just enough for everyone…
Then sit and chat with you

Working in your garden
Planting seeds… pulling weeds
Passerby’s longingly stare,
Grown, Created, such loving care

Gift bags, presents for all your young
You’ve never missed a day
Knowing they were packed with love...
Nana’s gracious, giving way

Your house, it has such spirit
Strawberries, trinkets from the sea
Pictures galore of all of us
Your home….a loving potpourri

The Clam

Last night I spent my evening putting blond stripes in my daughter’s hair!
It came out really good, considering the fact that there are now blond stripes through my twelve-year olds hair!

Friday night she went to her first dance!
I spent about ? hour before she left trying to be a “cool” Mom. I told her how I remembered going to the school dance..... How I really remember going to the school dance.
This is where it all starts: boys, kissing, smoking, cussing (with heavier stuff right around the corner - but I'll think about that another day)
I, of course, didn’t go into too much detail about my recollections (or lack thereof) of school dance’s. I wanted her to know that this was the beginning of her “teen” social life and that I would be here if she wanted to be open with me without fear of getting in trouble. She could tell me or ask anything – Been there – Done that, Samantha!

Her ride arrived and she rushed out the door, but not before spending about an hour showering and another on her hair and newly allowed eye-liner. Oh and she smelled like… (who are those people that hang out on corners?)

When she came home of course I grilled her…
“Was it fun?”
“Any cute boys?”
“Did you dance with anyone?”
I wanted to ask more, but kept my questions at bay (for the time being).

She proceeded to tell me she would be going every Friday night from now on… and then she turned into a clam and kept her little mouth shut.

I wonder what that means?
